Xiang of Xia

Xiang (Chinese: ), is the name of a ruler of the semi-legendary Xia Dynasty who is said to have reigned during the 3rd millennium BC. He was the fifth ruler of the Xia Dynasty.

He got his throne in the year of Wuxu (戊戌) and set his capital in Shangqiu (商丘). In the first year of his regime, he sent troops to the Huai Barbarians (淮夷) and Fei Barbarians (畎夷, aka Quanyi). In the second year of his regime, he sent troops to the Feng Barbarians(风夷) and Huang Barbarians (黄夷). In the 7th year of his regime, the Yu tribe (于夷) sent an envoy to Xia. In the 8th year of his regime, Han Zhuo (寒浞) killed Houyi (羿), with his son Jiao (浇). In the 9th year of his regime, he lived in Zhenguan (斟灌). In the 15th year of his regime, the duke of his vassal Shang, Xiangshi (相土) started fighting on horseback. Xiang moved his capital to Shangqiu (商丘). In the 20th year of his regime, Han Zhuo (寒浞) conquered Ge (戈). In the 26th year of his regime, Han Zhuo ordered his son to fight in Zhenguan(斟灌). In the 27th year of his regime, Jiao (浇) attacked Xia at Wei (潍) in Zhenxun (斟灌), capsized their boat and conquered them. In the 28th year of his regime, Han Zhuo ordered his son Jiao to kill Xiang. At that time, Xiang's wife, Queen Ji (缗) was pregnant. She escaped from Du (自窦), and hid in Youren (有仍). The minister of Xia, Mi (靡) fled to Youge (有鬲). Later, Ji gave birth to a boy, named Shao Kang (少康). Then Shao Kang went to Yu (虞) from Youren. Minister Mi (靡) and Shao Kang led Zhenxun and Zhenguan to fight Han Zhuo. Shao Kang sent Ru Ai (汝艾) to fight Jiao (浇) in Guo (过), Jiao was killed. Xia's minister Zishu(子杼) led troops, fought and conquered Ge (戈). Xia's minister Mi, killed Han Zhuo. Shao Kang returned to the Xia capital from Lun (纶). Including Han Zhuo and Houyi (羿), they ruled about 40 years. All the vassals of previous Xia came to worship Shao Kang.
